The nail-biting extended contest where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a total over 50 million spectators in the United States, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB stated this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 showdown featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series matchup since the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a 16% improvement over the previous Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 placed 4th, Game 4 was 7th, Game 5 was eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth position.

International Viewership Figures

In Canada, the climactic game recorded 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12M. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – recorded 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match series recorded 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the initial instance after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen audience growth for two straight years.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the total US average reached 16.1M. The total Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.
